We are Japanese Entomological society specialized in Scarabaeoid beetles (Coleoptera, Scarabaeoidea).

Prof. Dr. Kimio Masumoto, world famous taxonomist of Scarabaeoidea and Tenebrionoidea, retired from Otsuma Women's University, Tokyo, in March, 2011. To mark this occasion, a special publication, mainly in English, but partly in Japanese and Chinese, has just been published by the Japanese Society of Scarabaeoidology.

This publication consists of:
A preface written by Masumoto;
A brief biography of Masumoto’s personal history;
Checklist of all writings by Masumoto (336 titles during the period 1955-2010);List of more than 900 taxa of the Scarabaeoidea and Tenebrionoidea proposed by Masumoto; List of more than 40 taxa dedicated to Dr. Kimio Masumoto; "Memorial Gallery" of photographs and illustrations used in his papers, pictures with persons showing his large circle of friends in entomology, and cover pages of journals and colour books in which he was a contributor;

Contributed papers: 12 congratulatory messages and 35 entomological papers of taxonomy in various families of Coleoptera (see the list below) dedicated to him. Furthermore, this book is unique in having several valuable additions, such as the inclusion of detailed drawings and pictures taken from the original descriptions, memorable pictures with his colleagues in entomological study in Japan and abroad, and cover page photographs of magazines and colour books involving Dr. Masumoto over these past 50 years.

His papers are chronologically numbered and new taxa alphabetically arranged with paper numbers, therefore, if one wants to look for a species, the original description can be easily found. This book is not only a volume of original taxonomical descriptions, but also a unique commemorative volume with an excellent picture catalogue and historical study on the Scarabaeoidea and Tenebrionoidea.
